Dear Sam

I got to see you today. You are so tragically perfect; five fingers, five toes, heart thumping away in a perfect rhythm…. The doctor laughingly commented on how active you were, which made me confess to our breakfast this morning of chocolate cookies and coffee. I told him I suggested a veggie omelet, but you insisted 😬

Dr. Stewart is so kind. If you get a chance to meet him, I think you’ll agree. He said we wouldn’t be bothering you too much with extra scans and appointments since you’re doing so well & he didn’t see any reason you wouldn’t be able to stay with us until February. I’d love it if you would- I’ll make your dad buy us all the chocolate cookies and coffee our hearts desire. ❤️❤️❤️

I love you, & I love that you’re my son. You’ve already taught me so much about myself & my life. But those reflections are for another day. For now, I’m going to revel in your perfect toes and humorously imperfect nose & eat a lot more chocolate cookies. Because that’s the grace that I have for today. And for today, it is enough.
